You do not need an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome during our open hours.

To adopt from Tri-County Animal Rescue, you must be at least 21 years old.

If you’re 21 but not the landlord or primary resident, we’ll need written or verbal confirmation from the homeowner that pets are allowed in the home. This helps ensure every adoption starts with a stable and supportive environment for your new furry friend.

To begin the adoption process, you’ll need to complete an adoption application and meet with our team. We’ll get to know you and help ensure it’s a great match—for both you and your future pet! Some animals may have specific needs or extra requirements to ensure they go to the right home, but we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

If you already have a dog(s) at home, we require that you bring them in for an official meet and greet with the pet you’re hoping to adopt. This helps us ensure everyone gets along and sets the stage for a happy household. You’ll also need to provide proof that your current dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered—for the safety and well-being of all our animals.

Yes, you can meet the pet you’re interested in adopting—but first, we’ll need to approve your adoption application. Once that’s done, we’ll gladly arrange a one-on-one meet and greet to help you and your potential new best friend connect in a calm, comfortable setting.

If you lease or rent, you must have permission from your landlord or the primary resident where you live prior to adoption. Proof such as a lease or other documentation will need to be shown.

We will verify pet policies if there is an HOA - even if you own your home.

At Tri-County Animal Rescue, we don’t allow adoptions as surprise gifts. The person who will be the pet’s primary caregiver must be present and complete the adoption process themselves. This ensures the right match is made and every pet goes to a home where they’re truly wanted and prepared for.
